My favorite object

I know I have posted about this before on my blog, but I would have to say that my favorite object, hangs out on our front porch, and it is called wind chimes.
I bought my mother a set of wind chimes for Christmas of 2013, because when I moved back down here, there were no chimes on the porch at all, and I remember my mother having wind chimes on either the front or back porch since I was a kid. These chimes made a beautiful melodic sound all their own, but I thought they sounded lonely on the porch all by themselves, so I decided to purchase another set of chimes.
Christmas of 2014, I found a smaller set of chimes that tinkle out their musical melody and rhythm on the porch every time the wind blows.
I like wind chimes, because they sing out their special melody to me, and sometimes when I open the door to let the dog out into the front yard, I hear them calling out to me and I have to go stand or sit on the porch and truly listen to their melody, as they speak inspiration and ideas for writing to me.

The music of spring

Spring has sprung!
Hello everyone, I do enjoy the natural music of spring, from the songs of birds in the trees, to the chimes ringing out their joyous melodies on the front porch, to the sound of the wind and rain on an overcast spring day.
Although these natural sounds make up God’s creation singing its song to the world in springtime, There is a bit of Celtic music that I found on you tube that reminds me of spring.
as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfvFQppio6U
Let me know if this beautiful piece makes you think of spring, or if it brings to mind another special memory.
Dear readers, if you have questions about music as a source of healing, or you have suggestions for a future blog post, please email me at annwrites75@gmail.com You can also follow me on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/annwrites75 and I’d appreciate it if you’d like author Ann Harrison on Facebook.

Wind chimes calling to me from a distant place

I sit at my computer with the windows. open, and I hear our chimes calling out to me in the gentle breeze blowing outside. Do I go outside and listen to their gentle melodies? No, I let them sing out to me as if from a distance. I want my heart to hear their melodies, not just my mind and body. I’m not sure what they are saying to me, but I know the message is beautiful, and I never take it for granted. God created these special environmental gifts for our enjoyment. If we don’t take the time to truly listen to what they have to tell us, then they are just singing out to the empty air. I pray that God will open your hearts so you can take in your envirement and let it resonate throughout your entire body, mind, heart and soul. God bless each and every one of my beautiful readers and followers. Have a blessed day in the Name of the Lord.

sounds of my past

Good morning, although it won’t be long and it’ll be lunch time. Anyway, I went to let the dog out, and when I opened the door, the chimes called out to me yet again. I stood pretty near them, if not quite beneath them and truly listened to their beautiful melody. The little chime we have rememded me of the ching ching of finger symbols.
If you don’t know what Finger Symbols are, they’re thise little symbols, whith a loop that goes over your pointer finger and your thumb. To play them, you simply tap your fingers together so that the symbles strike each other to make a beautiful ching, ching sound.
To get back to what I was saying, our smallest wind chime was ringing out in such a way that it reminded me of playing the finger symbles in middle school music class. What sounds in your environment remind you of memories from the past?

My wind chimes beckoned me outside

Good morning all you lovely peeps out in wordpress land. I went to let our dog outside this morning, and the wind chimes on our front porch called out to me, as if to say “Come, sit out on the porch and let us tell you our secrets..”
I sat for a few moments and took in the beautiful melodies of both sets of chimes. I don’t know what these melodies mean, and maybe it’s not meant for me to know just yet what they mean, but I feel as if they will inspire me to write later on today. I feel that there is music in the world around us, especially the beautiful ringing of wind chimes and bells of all sorts. I will explain this concept further in my book entitled Embracing the Healing Power of music. If you want to take part in this incredible journey with me, please help me get my book published by casting your vote at http://tinyurl.com/of6popv
I write all this to make one valid point. If something in your environment is calling out to you, because it has a secret to share, please don’t take this urge for granted. I encourage you to find a quiet place, close your eyes, and take in everything your surroundings tell you. I promise, you won’t be sorry. You may find some inspiration by listening to God’s natural music.
Happy reading, writing, and God bless you my wonderful readers. Until next time, here’s wishing you love and prayers.

It’s a beautiful day!

It’s the middle of January, and we’re in the midst of winter. However, the day is warm, and the sun is shining. As I step outside on my front porch, I feel an unseasonably warm breeze, and the wind chimes are ringing out their beautiful melodies in the breeze. What a day the Lord has made, and put a song of praise in my heart.
If you too are experiencing such a beautiful day, don’t take it for granted. Get out and enjoy the sunshine with your children, or just simply take a walk out in the sun to draw closer to God. How do you draw close to the Lord on such a beautiful day? Do you simply open the windows and let the sunshine pour down on you from heaven, or do you step out into the day that the Lord has made, and bask in the sunshine? Whatever you do to enjoy the day, I pray that you are richly blessed.
Love and prayers,
Ann

chimes and other sounds as indspiration for writing

Good morning,
I have a question and a message for all the writers who follow and read my blog. When you are trying to write something, whether it be a novel, essay, or any other piece you’re working on, do you ever find that you have writers block? That sometimes happens to me. This happened on a couple of days during NaNoWriMo last year.
Let me share with you what I did to combat my writers block. Although everyone has a different approach to avoiding writers block, I personally sat out on my front porch on an overcast day, with a light breeze to cool me off. I sat listening to the wind chimes that my mom has hanging on the porch, and all of a sudden a burst of inspiration hit me, and I was able to write for hours after that.
What I’m getting at here, is that inspiration can strike at the oddest moments, and by the simplest attributes of your day. For example, your child could make a comment about a cartoon character he/she likes, or you can simply hear a tune or a certain sound that triggers an idea, and gets the words flowing through your mind. When that happens my friend, don’t take these special inspirational moments for granted, you never know what story, poem, essay, novel, or other form of writing can be created when inspiration strikes.
Happy writing and God bless,
Ann
