Inspirational Journeys Presents: Special Guest Interview with Teresa Guffanti

Teresa Guffanti is a child of the Most High God. Teresa was born and raised in South Florida; however, she now resides in Dallas Texas, where she currently is the Host and Author of Struggling Blessed but Not Alone Podcast and blog.

Theresa’s life has been a struggle in every way and in every decade. No matter the struggles of life. Teresa has a Can-Do Attitude living on the bible verse that states You can do all things with Christ who strengthens you. Philippians 4:13.

At the age of 11 she was diagnosed with a child’s form of Macular degeneration called Stargardt’s. People in her life may not have believed in her but that did not stop her. For she knew God created her for a greater purpose.  Therefore, she had determined at a young age She would do great things and make a difference in this world.  Teresa may be almost totally blind, but her vision loss does not define her. It has taught her how to reinvent herself as her life changes.

At the age of 14, while attending school, she embarked upon a career path, filling her life with a variety of jobs, from a general worker to having various leadership roles such as Team leader, supervisor, office manager-Store Manager, customer service rep and manager, business owner and partner. She has also found time to engage her life with many community services, holding leadership roles such as president, director, general adviser and committee adviser in these activities. Teresa has always found time to help change the lives of others and support causes she holds dear to her heart.  Teresa graduated high school and received her childcare certificate in 1989. She earned her personal training certification in 1998. This path of education was not a straight shot like most people have. Years later, God gave her an Opportunity to go back to school and show the world she is able to do All Things with God on her side. In 2008 she earned her AA degree at Broward Community college with honors, and received her bachelor’s degree in accounting at Florida Atlantic University in 2012.  Throughout her life, she had to find places to help her learn how to navigate her life changing eye disease. She received training in the areas of Cane travel, braille, assistive technology and independent living. Her thirst for knowledge has inspired her to pursue her master’s degree in seminary and motivational speaking, Teresa Has started a Focus Group called Sharing Insights To better help her low vision and blind peers. She is working on writing her life story, showing The WORLD that GOD LIVES IN AND THROUGH HER Romans 8:28.

Quote by Teresa “Having faith in the lord is more powerful than wishing on a star!”

FEATURED PRODUCTS:

Our first product is called “The Love Always and Forever Set”, which includes matching bracelet, necklace and earrings. Each piece is made of brass with shades of purple gemstones and crystals. The necklace says “I love you” in braille, the bracelet says “always,” and the earrings are deliberately mismatched, so that one earring says “always,” and the other one says “forever.”

Our next featured product is a piece called the Autumn Abundance necklace. It is a charm dangle necklace in mostly copper, with brass accents, and forest green and burgundy pearl beads. The necklace features a gorgeous cluster of leaves, pine cones, acorns, and beautiful embellishments. The centerpiece is a long leaf braille embossed with the word “abundance.” The chain is copper, and all of the charms dangle from the toggle clasp, which is worn in front.

Our final feature is a set of four charms for mobility canes and other types of canes with straps attached. This set is called the “Charmed by the Seasons” 4-piece cane charms set. There is one each for spring, summer, winter, and fall. The one for spring has a baby butterfly, pastel beads, a flower braille embossed with dream, the summer charm has a sun embossed with shine, along with a tiny flower and bright pearl beads, winter features sparkly snowflakes, white beads and a large disc that says let it snow, and the one for fall is a maple leaf with a tiny pine cone charm and autumn toned beads, embossed with cherish.

MORE ABOUT GUEST ENTREPRENEUR EDWARD COHEN

Edward Cohen moved from Indianapolis, Indiana with his wife to Rochester MN in 2010, after retiring from over 25 years in the fields of energy and environmental work for Indiana State Government. The choice of Rochester was to be near to their daughter and her family.

He was born with a retinal degenerative disease called retinitis pigmentosa or RP. In some ways, RP is the opposite of Macular Degeneration. Those with RP often start out very near-sighted, develop cataracts early in life, lose their peripheral vision and their light sensitivity. The person is often totally blind by their mid-40s or sooner. There are about 250 genetic variations of the disease. Recently, a treatment for one of them is being tested. It isn’t the variation he has.

He has been legally blind since 1995, but still has some sight and remains active and involved in his community. In 2015, He started a business to help other blind people which you’ll hear more about.

As a youth, he became aware that his vision issues were more than just near-sightedness. Functioning outside between dusk and dawn or in less than brightly lit rooms was and is increasingly a struggle. Yet in spite of this, he amassed an impressive range of careers, skills and experiences.

The impact of dealing with those challenges likely shaped his personality, making him more outgoing, sensitive to people dealing with their own challenges and perhaps sharpening his sense of humor.

If you or someone you know prefers a print calendar, but have yet to find one that works well, you must check out this one. You’ve never seen one like it. That’s because a person with low-vision designed it and It’s made in the USA.

The features that people love about it include:
• All the letters and numbers are in black and are greater than ten times larger than newsprint.
• Each uncluttered, daily cell is nearly the size of two, 3 x 5 cards the maximum possible space in which to write big, and
• The edge of each daily page is bordered with a thick black line. No more writing off the edge of the paper.

The 2020 edition only costs $22.95 and becomes available online in August, 2019.

Learn all about this unique, 8.5 x 11 weekly/planner/Calendar and its creator at, EZ2SeeProducts.com. While there, also check out the EZ2See® Sticky Notes. Their black borders were designed to work well with the calendar.

My first Podcast Episode and my experience with Anchor

Hello everyone,

Have you ever wanted to conduct your own podcast, but didn’t know how to get started? Well, let me explain something, I was like you. However, I have finally found a platform that is accessible, though you have to do a bit of working around the app to discover what one of the unlabeled buttons are. I won’t go through all the steps to making a podcast episode here, but I will share that information with you in a future blogpost and podcast episode. However, I will say that with all the planning, brainstorming, practicing to get my recordings just right, the thought of podcasting was a bit nerve racking, but I stuck my neck out and fiddled with the app to learn how to add new segments, invite friends to record, and I put together an episode. Here’s my episode of encouragement to aspiring authors and podcasters.

Please Let me know what topics you’d like me to discuss or if you have any questions about being an author or a podcaster. Pleas feel free to send me any links to resources or any tips you’d like me to share with my audience.

You can interact with me via the podcast in two ways, you can leave comments in the show notes associated with a given episode, which will appear as blog posts, visit my contact page and leave me a message on the contact form found at:

https://annwritesinspiration.com/contact

or you can send an email to

annwrites75@gmail.com with podcast feedback in the subject line. If you’d like to be a guest on my show, pleas let me know via email or my contact form and I’ll be happy to send you my podcast interview framework.

Until next time, happy writing and may God Richly bless you.
