The children in my life, a cherished blessing from heaven

As much as I love my parents, my husband, and everyone else in my family, the five blessings in my life that I want to talk about today are my daughter and my three nieces and my nephew.
First of all, I’d like to tell you about my daughter Sharen, the miracle baby that I had nearly nine years ago. Although she spends a majority of her time with her father. She goes to school near her home, and she has her friends and visits with her cousins on her dad’s side of the family. However, when she’s with me, we have a wonderful time together, even though she sometimes drives me insane. Since I got remarried back in May, she has gotten to know her step cousins on my husband’s side of the family. She loves hanging out with Mathew when they spend the weekends together. She also loves talking to my nieces and nephew on facetime. Sharen will always be my baby, no matter how old she and I get. I’m so proud of my little girl who is growing up way too fast.
My oldest Niece Charolette (pronounced Charlotte), is almost ten. Although I wasn’t able to be with her much when she was a baby, when my ex-husband and I separated back in March of 2010, it took a while for her to get to know me, but once she did, she’s never looked back since. When I see her, she likes for me to play games with her and Sharen or with her and my nephew out on the porch. Although she can get an attitude sometimes, she and my daughter are so close in age, that although they fight, they are still as close as sisters.
My four-year-old nephew Nathan is all boy. One thing I remember after he was borne was quite funny. I would hold Nathan and my daughter Sharen would stand beside the chair where I sat and would hold his feet. I thought that was cute at the time. As he grew older, he wanted to play little children’s games with me. He still does sometimes, but there are times when he wants to go off and do his own thing and play with his trucks and tractors and other toys. He just started school this year, and he says that he likes it, because he has other kids to play with. I love that little boy, and he makes me proud too.
Now I want to introduce you to the twins. Two years old and different as night and day. Madalynn was borne first I believe, though I never can keep the actual order of their births straight, nor their middle names. I think her name is Madalyn Jane, but don’t quote me on that. She’s talkative, but she was the one to try to stand up first. Olivia June, on the other hand, was the noisy one. She has a high pitched voice, and when she yells, she can shriek! I just noticed when I went to visit my family with my daughter this weekend that Olivia loves to sing. I think she will be a soprano when she grows up, and if Madalynn does sing, she may wind up being an alto, but you just never know.
There’s one more child, or should I say teenager, that became a part of my life when my husband Michael and I got married. Well, let me say that he became a part of my life even before that. Meet Mathew, my nephew by marriage. He’s nearly fourteen, and although he loves to irritate me, just like his uncle, they are more like twins, just a generation apart. The good thing is that he and Sharen get along really well, and he does help clean up when he’s are the apartment.
Thanks for allowing me to take this brief moment to introduce the children that are near and dear to my heart. Happy reading, writing and blogging, and I hope you enjoy this year’s cherished blog fest as much as I will. Blessings and stay inspired.

Blessings for NaNoWriMo

Blessings my blogging friends!
Today I want to talk about how richly blessed I have been, and how these blessings have enhanced my writing for NaNoWriMo.
First of all, God has brought me in contact with a person whom I can pray and worship Him with. My last relationship that I thought was of God, turned out not to be the one he chose for me. However, I pray for the people in my life who haven’t turned to God in their time of need, because I feel in my heart, that given time, that He will surely bring people into their lives that will bring them closer to Him.
Second of all, After my worship and praise this morning, I checked my email and discovered that I received my first royalty payment from an anthology I am featured in. Now if that’s not a gift from God, I don’t know what is.! With that being said, I have been inspired to write, in more ways than I can ever explain.
My advice to you, Give God the glory and praise for the mishaps and the blessings in your life, and He will richly bless you, and when you write, the Holy Spirit will inspire you in more ways than you can imagine. Happy writing, and good luck during NaNoWriMo.

A day in the life of a writer who is blind

What is it like to be blind?

A girl I knew, who came to the Georgia Academy for the Blind, from a local public school, to take some industrial arts classes, asked me that one day at recess when I was in high school. At the time, I didn’t know how to answer this question, but I will attempt to do so here.
First of all, instead of relying on my eyes as many sighted people do, I have to rely on my other four senses to tell me what’s going on in the world around me, and use my mind’s eye to picture places, people, and objects as they are described to me, through other people, books, audio described movies, and my own creative imagination.Let’s explore in the next few paragraphs, our senses, and what it’s like to rely on all our senses to allow the world to communicate it’s messages to us.

The sense of Hearing

As a deaf person relies more on his or her eyes his/her sense of feel, to communicate the messages of the world around them, as a blind person, I rely on my ears to “see” the world around me. For instance, I can detect many different sounds around me, where a sighted person only notices a couple of distinct sounds throughout their busy lives.
While doing research for a book I am writing about the healing power of music, I read something very interesting and yet common in Don Campbell’s book called Healing at the speed of sound. According to Campbell, he had to close his eyes to really hear the sounds inside and outside his office environment. If he hadn’t closed his eyes, he would have only heard the honking of a car horn, and the music playing on his stereo system. I’m not saying this is a bad thing at all, but it’s completely normal for a sighted person not to notice all the different sounds around him or her.
Many of you rely on images, colors, lights, and graphics to tell you what’s going on around you, and some of you have even said that you like to view images in a blog post to tell you what a writer wants to convey to you. You may also prefer to watch a video than read a book or listen to an audio podcast. However, in my case, I prefer the exact opposite.
The reason I don’t include pictures and other graphics on my blog, is because it’s difficult for me to find images from other sources and add them to my blog posts, unless they are presented as JPG or PNG images. I can provide links to videos I find helpful or relevant to my posts, but I have to have sighted assistance creating videos of my own.
Here is a little experiment for you. Take a moment, (unless you are driving), close your eyes, and truly listen to the sounds around you. What do you actually hear?

Smell and taste

I am linking these two senses together, because they are so closely connected. For example, if you smell something cooking from another room in your house, or from a nearby restaurant as you go for a walk, your mouth begins to water. On the other hand, if you smell a foul odor from a paper mill, food gone bad, or some other source, you may cover your nose, or gag. I’m not saying you should taste everything you smell, but some foods have a strong odor, and you must get past the smell in order to taste the goodness within.
When you closed your eyes and listened to your environment, did you take a moment to detect any distinct odors in your home, office, or car? If not, take a moment to do this now and tell me what you smell. If you close your eyes while eating, did your food have a distinct smell or taste than it did while you were looking at it? What differences did you notice?

The Sense of Feel

Last but certainly not least, we will discuss the sense of feel. Notice I said “feel” not “touch.” The reason for this is that the sense of feel is more than what we simply touch, it’s the vibrations in the air.
Let me give you an example of the difference between mere touch and the sense of feel. First of all, pick up a piece of paper, put your hands on your computer keyboard, or touch someone’s hand. You are touching the person or object, but are you really feeling what’s under your fingers? In an introduction to Psychology class I took when I was earning my associates degree in communication through Kaplan University’s online degree program, I learned a lot about each of the five senses. For example, although we use our eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands, and the rest of our body to feel, hear, see, smell, taste, and perceive the world around us, our brains receive the messages that the world communicates to us, then sends them to our sensory organs.
I’m not going to go into any scientific explanation, because that would bore me and you both, but suffice it to say, that we are often desensitized to certain sounds, sensations, odors, and even certain images in order to focus on the important things in life. For example, we don’t our tongue touching our teeth and lips, or our clothes on our body unless we stop and think about it. As a blind person, I even desensitize myself to certain sensations, and ignore certain sounds in the background, such as the hum of the air conditioner or the fan in my room, to focus on other sounds, and sensations. But, here is another question to ponder. Can you feel sound?
Well, this question has two answers. No, you can’t touch sound, like you can touch the object that makes the sound, but you can feel the vibration that makes the sound you hear. Let me give you a musical example. When you hear a certain pitch, such as middle C being played on a piano, or even the lowest C on the keyboard, there is an area on the back of your neck where the neck meets the base of the scull, which detects the vibrations of music known as the overtone series. Although you may feel these vibrations, you may not notice them unless you close your eyes. I’m not sure whether this relates to my blindness or not, but I have learned how to feel these vibrations, thus my world is connected through music, whether it be traditional or environmental, as I have explained in several previous blog posts.
Now, let’s go back to the first experiment I suggested that you try. While listening to all the different sounds around you with your eyes closed. Try to feel some of the vibrations that create these sounds, especially the tinkling of bells, chimes, or your favorite piece of music. What do you feel? Can you describe the sensations?

call to action

Although some of you who read my blog are visually impaired, many of you are blessed with the sense of sight. As you try these experiments I have given you, on your own, please share your experiences with me, because I really want to know what a sighted person experiences when he or she tries to rely on his or her other four senses along with his or her eyes. Let me know what you feel, hear, smell and taste, and tell me if you experience any differences when you close your eyes while doing these little exercises.

Happy Mother’s Day

Hello everyone.
I would be remiss if I didn’t say a heart felt Happy Mother’s Day to my friends here on wordpress. May God richly bless you, and may you have a wonderful and special day with your mothers, grandmothers, and children.
Love and prayers on this special day set aside for us moms.

It’s a beautiful day!

It’s the middle of January, and we’re in the midst of winter. However, the day is warm, and the sun is shining. As I step outside on my front porch, I feel an unseasonably warm breeze, and the wind chimes are ringing out their beautiful melodies in the breeze. What a day the Lord has made, and put a song of praise in my heart.
If you too are experiencing such a beautiful day, don’t take it for granted. Get out and enjoy the sunshine with your children, or just simply take a walk out in the sun to draw closer to God. How do you draw close to the Lord on such a beautiful day? Do you simply open the windows and let the sunshine pour down on you from heaven, or do you step out into the day that the Lord has made, and bask in the sunshine? Whatever you do to enjoy the day, I pray that you are richly blessed.
Love and prayers,

A blessed Fall Day

Hello to all you beautiful readers out in blog land, and in cyberspace, who link to my blog from my emails, or from facebook on this Blessed Tuesday afternoon.  Blessed be the name of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! No matter how crazy this world is, God is still in control.

Let me explain a little about what happened to me a few months ago, and I will explain how it links to God’s plan for this country.  I had a dream that businesses everywhere were shutting down, and I along with several other people were asked to leave a particular store where I was shopping.  People were up in arms about the closing.  Before I awoke, I said “This is the end of life as we know it.” Little did I know, that the government shutdown would happen at the time.

This is not a political post, far from it.  This government shutdown was no accident, God had this in his plans all along.  This has happened to bring our nation to it’s knees, because Our Heavenly Father will not be Mocked! The reason i am writing this today, is to ask each and every one of you who see this to Pray that God will bring our Nation back to him, Pray that he will protect His Children and Pray that the sin that is being committed  be stopped according to His will! I also encourage you to pray for the Nation of Israel as God has demanded, because the citizens of Israel are God’s chosen people. This isMy daily prayer.

On another note, I do Praise the Lord for this beautiful, yet cool automn weather.  I can’t see the turning of the leaves, but in the breeze I can hear them falling all around me, and if I am walking, I hear and feel the crunch of leaves underfoot.  Fall and Spring are my most favorite seasons, because the weather is cooler, I can hear the music of nature, and feel the breezes blowing through my open window, or on my body as I go out and about on any given day.

One final prayer request I have for you dear readers is that you Pray that God will give me strength, and take away the pain I have been suffering in my hands, so I can play the music that God has placed in my heart, and use it and my writing to minister to others.  I hope this posting finds you well, and blessed.  May God bless you and keep you safe in these troubled times.  Go with God and He will certainly go with you.

Love and Prayers,

A blessed and typical Monday morning

Hello everyone,

Although it is Monday, and yes I do know that some people dread this particular day, I do not.  I Thank God that he has given me another day to live and to praise him.  I am thankful that he made the sun to shine and the birds to sing.  I am thankful that He saved my soul, and for the wonderful people he has brought into my life.

Remember how I talked about music as a source of healing, and the music of wind chimes in my previous posts? Well There is another type of God given music I want to tell you about today.  This music is called the music of nature.  By this I simply mean the music of the birds singing on a spring morning.  This also refers to the pattering of rain on our windows, or on the roof, if you are fortunate enough to still have a tin roof on your house.  These simple sounds, that we often times take for granted, are music to God’s ears, and music to My ears as well.  You can learn a lot just by closing your eyes and listening to the sounds around you when you step outside on your front porch early in the morning, or by listening to the sounds that come through your open window as you greet each new day. The natural music that is all around you, is one of God’s simple gifts for His children to enjoy.

I pray for each and all of my readers, and I pray that each and every one of you will be richly blessed each and every day of your lives here on this earth.I strongly suggest that you take the time to enjoy the Simple gifts that God has created, and not take them for granted, as we often do.  Take some time out of your busy lives to connect with God in your own special way. Go with God, and God will certainly go with you.

Love and prayers to all my readers,

A touching story about a guide dog who saves her owner’s little boy

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

This story was not one that I wrote, but one that I got from a Christian email list that I am on.  Though I cannot take credit for writing this story, I will give all the glory of this blessing to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for he is the Author of salvation.

Love and prayers,

Mom’s Guide Dog Saves Her Baby From Being Hit by a Car
by Mary Fischer
Friday at 1:12 PM

Mom Jessica Crowley is thanking her lucky stars after her guide dog saved
her baby’s life by pushing his stroller out of the way of a car that was
heading straight for it.

Jessica is registered blind, and her black lab, Jet, has been by her side
for five years. While getting ready to cross the street pushing her son
Jacob’s stroller, she heard the screech of a car coming in their
direction. And just before it hit, Jet broke loose from Jessica’s grip and knocked
the stroller out of the way. It did fall over and the baby wound up with a
cut on his lip, but if it weren’t for Jet’s quick actions, something much
worse could have happened.

Jessica says that Jet loves little Jacob as if he were her own, which is
evident based on how she reacted when she realized he was in danger. Who
says a dog can’t have mama bear instincts — even if a human baby is the
one she’s trying to protect? It’s amazing how even though she’s trained to
assist Jessica, she immediately switched gears and came to Jacob’s rescue.

I’m sure this mom keeps replaying what happened over and over again in
her mind. I know I would if my son had almost been hit by a car. And I
don’t know how I’d ever be able to give that dog enough love and praise to
thank her for what she did, though something tells me dogs do what they feel
is right without expecting anything much in return.
What a blessing it is that Jessica had Jet with her that day. I’m sure
every time she hears her sweet baby boy’s voice, she’s once again reminded of
what a gem of a dog she has in her life!

Is your dog protective of your baby?

Writings from my heart

Hello everyone,
Have you ever felt that your heart was heavy because you miss your loved ones, whether they be your children, your parents, siblings, or even a special someone that God has brought into your life?  That’s the way I am feeling now.  I have a little girl who is almost five.  She lives with her dad, and spends part of the time with me.  She started school this year, and when I think about all she is learning in school, It makes my heart melt with joy, yet at the same time, my hart breaks, because she is growing up so incredibly fast.
Do you feel heavy hearted, because you know that there is someone out there who needs divine healing, and you feel that God is calling you to touch that person’s life, even if you don’t know the person as of yet?  I have felt this way many times, and I have been in a situation where I was at my wits end, after a painful and trying time in my own life.  God helped me climb out of the hole of despair in many ways, some of which I won’t divulge here, because many people don’t understand the divine experiences that God has blessed me with. However I will share with you the following experiences: I have had dreams of climbing, that have seemed strange at times, and there are times when I still do.  I have opened myself to music that God has used to save my life.  I believe that the dreams I had, were God’s way of helping me clime out of the pit of despair and hopelessness.
If you or someone you know has fallen down deep into the pit of despair, or if you are broken and wounded and you need someone to save you, all you have to do is call out to Jesus.  No matter what kind of pain you’ve suffered, whether it be from abuse, the loss of a loved one, or if it be physical pain, God can take all your troubles and heal them.  Jesus keeps no records of your sins if only you will confess your sins and ask him for forgiveness.  no matter what happened in your past, God will allow you to learn from the past, and help you begin life anew.  If you are down and out, and you feel you have no where to turn, I encourage you to call upon the Name of the Lord, and ask him to come into your heart and change your life.  If you  have already been saved, and are a Christian, and you are still broken and wounded, Call on Jesus, and he will move heaven and earth to rescue you.
You are always in my prayers my dear readers, and I pray, that you find spiritual healing by the Grace of God.  I also pray that my words will touch the hearts of some if not all of my beautiful readers.  If I can touch the life of one lost soul out in cyberspace, or in blog land, then I have done what God has called me to do.  For as Psalm 23 verse 1 says, “The Lord is my shepherd, and I shall not want….”  the lord will provide everything you need in this life, and in the hereafter.
In the book of Mathew, Jesus says “Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.”  Take these words to heart, and Take your worries, troubles, pain, and even your rejoicing to Jesus, and He will surely bless your heart.  I pray that this writing finds you all well, and that you have been richly blessed.  I wish you love and lots of prayers. Go with God, and he will certainly go with you.  I will post a song that will go along with this post
