I don’t know this for sure, but I believe that no one really knows how to be a writer. For sure there is the age old sentiment that you must write a lot, then a lot more, and you must read a lot. Just write, that’s how you’re a writer. These things are for sure true, but I’m finding there’s so much more to being a writer than merely putting your thoughts down on the page. There’s blogging, networking, social media, meetings, conferences, stretching that comfort zone. There’s finding your voice, where you fit, you niche. Also there’s breaking that ideal that you must craft a perfect piece, kneed it, mould it, sculpt it, sand it, then present it. How, though, can you ever just get those words out when you’re so concerned about perfection? The answer, I’ve found, is simply, don’t think so hard, just pour out the words…
