Emotional Abuse is equally damaging

I had to leave my ex-husband and his family because of the emotional abuse they heaped on me. I just pray that my daughter isn’t suffering the same abuse I did. Thanks for Sharing. To answer the question that was asked in this post, it is because there are no physical scars or evidence to prove that a person has been emotionally abused.

“Whether this abuse is physical, verbal, or the less evident but equally severe emotional abuse, it is an abomination and a serious offense to God” –Elder M. Russell Ballard.

In general, the people in our society get up in arms about child sexual or physical abuse. Which is totally right. Occurrences often end up on the news. These types of abuse are described as “sick” and “wrong” and “travesties”. Which they are.

But I feel that verbal and emotional abuse is a travesty as well. They are just as sick and wrong. But, they are often minimized and discounted by these same people who are horrified by other types of abuse.

If a child or teen confided in a trusted adult that one of their parents hit them, or touched them in an uncomfortable way, that trusted adult likely would tell authorities and would try to rescue that child.

An inexplecable musical experience

One day, while I was teaching myself how to play a simple song on an old Cassio keyboard my aunt gave me before she passed away, God rest her soul, I had this incredible experience. I remember playing the beginning, and the end of the piece, but I got so wrapped up in the music, that I don’t know what I played after I started playing the music.
I do know, that I was playing, because I heard the notes and felt my fingers moving over the keys, but when it was all over, I felt happy and tired all at the same time.
Have you ever had an experience like this one? Please let me know what it was like for you in the comments.

A Valuable Lesson from the School of Life

Yesterday I learned a very valuable life lesson from God. Don’t go searching all over creation for what you need, when God places it either under your nose, or at your finger tips as the case may be.
Let me explained how I received this revelation from the Holy Spirit. The other day I was searching on Google for something that I could use for my book called Embracing the Healing Power of Music. Well, I had what I thought was the perfect article, and I started to take notes, when I discovered that the article was full of quotes from a book entitled The Sounds of Healing. So I deleted the article from my favorites list, and tried to find something more, to no avail. Needless to say, the Holy Spirit convicted my heart and made me think of at least three audio books I could download if I just got off my procrastination and logged onto the BARD Site and got them. Well, after waiting for the first book to download onto the BARD app I recently installed on my phone for an hour and a half, I decided to delete the app and download the zipped folders from the site itself. Since then, I not only found four audio books at my disposal, but I searched the ibook store, and found wealth of information, almost too much if you ask me. To make a long story short, I made a small investment into my research, and from what I started reading thus far, every penny I spent on the books I purchased, and every penny I spend to pay for my cell phone service is well worth the outcome of creating a book that will reach God’s children who are wounded and broken and in need of God’s divine gift of healing through music, that God has blessed us with since time began, from the natural music of bird song, rain, and other environmental sounds, to the art form of music as we know it today.
No matter what your situation might be, or what you may be searching for, all I suggest is that you ask the Holy spirit to show you where to find what you’re looking for. For Jesus tells us in Mathew 7:7 “ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
Until next time my dear readers, Love and prayers, and have a blessed night’s sleep. May God Richly bless you in the days ahead.

The music of spring

Spring has sprung!
Hello everyone, I do enjoy the natural music of spring, from the songs of birds in the trees, to the chimes ringing out their joyous melodies on the front porch, to the sound of the wind and rain on an overcast spring day.
Although these natural sounds make up God’s creation singing its song to the world in springtime, There is a bit of Celtic music that I found on you tube that reminds me of spring.
as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfvFQppio6U
Let me know if this beautiful piece makes you think of spring, or if it brings to mind another special memory.
Dear readers, if you have questions about music as a source of healing, or you have suggestions for a future blog post, please email me at annwrites75@gmail.com You can also follow me on twitter at http://www.twitter.com/annwrites75 and I’d appreciate it if you’d like author Ann Harrison on Facebook.
Until next time, See you kids later. BTW, I will be praying for you, and I wish you a blessed and very wonderful day!

How to Market Your Self Published Books to Libraries!

This is another great marketing tip. Thanks for the information.

iaiindependentpublishingblog

If you are a self published author, your goal is to sell your work and  inevitably, see a return on your investment.  In order to do this, you must (wait for it…) market, market, market your product.   In an earlier post, I recommended that you mimic the big fish in order to be successful.  Well, how do big fish gain recognition and earn sales? They place their products everywhere?

Libraries are definitely good places to help you gain momentum as a self publishing superstar. As a professional librarian, I have had experience working in school, public, and academic libraries.  In the aforementioned role(s), I have had the tedious responsibility of maintaining library collections.  Although I love my career, maintaining a collection is a very cumbersome process.  For one, librarians are inundated by sales reps.  We have to select books that are appropriate for our respective libraries and that  requires a lot of…

Guest Post: RRBC “Spotlight Author” ELIZABETH N. LOVE talks about Book Reviews

I will write reviews of books I enjoy on my blog as well. I usual give a little blerb about the book, then I give my honest opinions about the book in a positive way by giving tips on what can make the book even better.

Cassidy's Bookshelves

Today I am honored to have Elizabeth N. Love, author of Call of the Goddess, as a guest on my blog. An avid reader and frequent reviewer of other authors’ books, Elizabeth shares her thoughts about writing book reviews.

 *~*~*~*

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAReviews are an important part of being a writer. We want to hear feedback a) so we can feel good about our accomplishments, b) so we can share the good news with others, and c) we want to know how to be better at what we do.

I started a review blog last year in order to help Indie Authors get more feedback on their work. It’s an important service that so many are looking for in the writing world. Of course, now I have enough books to last me a year.

After I post my own review, I take a quick look at other reviews for the same…

Fly free from emotional abuse

I understand that pain all too well, I was not only emotionally abused by my ex-husband, but I was emotionally abused by his family too. After I came back home to live with my parents, I found comfort and healing in music. Now I am writing a book called Embracing the Healing Power of Music: Seven Steps for Finding Your Way Out of the Darkness and Into the Light with God’s Gift of Song. In this book, I share my story, and I share some information about music and it’s healing power. I pray that I can publish it and touch the heart of someone who is suffering at the hands of abusers like I did. Love and prayers to you and anyone else who has dealt with the pain of emotional abuse.

Emotional abuse is never ok. It can leave scars much deeper than any fist hitting flesh. The wounds are carried in the mind, heart and soul. People who are sensitive and caring are usually the victims. They are easy to manipulate because they really care about others. It often starts with the perpetrator putting the victim on a pedestal. When someone goes too fast claiming “love at first site” or something else it should give someone pause. It can happen but healthy relationships are built over time. Another red flag is “I love you so much I want you to myself.” If you plan things with other than the perpetrator they will make you feel guilty. Tell you that obviously you dont’ care about them. They should be enough. Slowly they will isolate you from people that care about you. You end up under their control completely. Sometimes they will…

Wind chimes calling to me from a distant place

I sit at my computer with the windows. open, and I hear our chimes calling out to me in the gentle breeze blowing outside. Do I go outside and listen to their gentle melodies? No, I let them sing out to me as if from a distance. I want my heart to hear their melodies, not just my mind and body. I’m not sure what they are saying to me, but I know the message is beautiful, and I never take it for granted. God created these special environmental gifts for our enjoyment. If we don’t take the time to truly listen to what they have to tell us, then they are just singing out to the empty air. I pray that God will open your hearts so you can take in your envirement and let it resonate throughout your entire body, mind, heart and soul. God bless each and every one of my beautiful readers and followers. Have a blessed day in the Name of the Lord.

Academy 7, by Anne Osterlund, a review

Hey folks, this is different from my inspirational posts, and the posts about my book. I just read the most awesome scifi novel entitled Academy 7 by Anne Osterlund. I am not usually one for scifi, but this author sucked me right into the story, and onto her fictional planets.

Academy 7 is a novel about two teenage characters who are invited to attend the best scool of the alliance, on a planet called Academia. While attending Academy 7 they defy all the rules and laws to find the hidden truth about their pasts. Even though their lives are in danger, they are drawn to each other.

Even though this is a scifi adventure story, it has a bit of romance in it, because well, I don’t want to spoil it for you, so you’ll have to get the book and read it to find out what I mean.

Last, but not least I want to thank NLS narrator, Patrick Downer for bringing  this book to life for blind readers like myself. I don’t know wether the narrator makes the book so good, or the writer alone, but I think it takes a combination of both to make it so riviting. Thanks to the writer and the narrator for pulling me into this excellent novel.

Until next time, happy writing, reading, and God bless you all
